Thank you to the Bangor Crematorium staff, fellow funeral directors and the congregation for their understanding and cooperation today. One of my memories as a child in the 70s is sitting in my dad’s car in Benllech waiting for the 6.00pm pips to sound on the radio. It was time for the fairground to open! Or as we knew it ‘sioe bach’.
It was run by Jonny and Rose and often Rose would let me on the dodgers for free! Happy days.
Fast forward to today and I had the privilege of taking their grandson Jon’s funeral. He died at such a young age and will be so missed. Proud of his roots and his connection with the fairground, Jon leaves a family devastated by their loss.
My thanks to Jones Brothers Benllech Funeral Directors for their excellent care of the arrangements. True professionalism is shown when things go wrong, and the closure of the Menai Bridge earlier today added so much stress to the day. Katy and the team, however, stepped up to the plate and showed us what true pros they are as they handled a situation well outside their control so well. Diolch ichi. ... See MoreSee Less

Sunday morning, we completed our 24-hour pool challenge in aid of CRUK 🎱
A massive thank you to each and every person who made this possible. There are too many to name everyone individually, but special thanks must go to Steve, Nikki, Caz, and The Benllech team for keeping us fed and watered throughout the 24 hours. Also, thank you to Mike and Carol @ Finney’s, and Gareth Parry for providing tea and breakfast.
We’re incredibly grateful to all the businesses and individuals who supported the event through prize donations and sponsorship. The support shown—especially from those who attended the bingo and throughout the rest of the day—was amazing and truly kept us going.
A big shoutout to Morgan Morris for producing fantastic 3D printed items, sold in aid of Chemocare bags.
Lastly, my sincere gratitude to everyone who played. So many people gave up their time and “skills” to take part and help organise the day. It really was a fantastic event with something for everyone.
Donations are still coming in, so I’ll update the total as soon as we have the final figure. In the meantime, if you’d still like to contribute, the link is below.
